RPS: "On the one hand, the openness and rogue weather of Metal Gear Solid Vs second zone is a spectacular, tactics-altering change from the dusty, mountainous, barren Afghanistan Ive spent dozens of hours in. On the other, no, its different, its not the same, its all weird, I hate it I hate it I hate it."

Konami ceases triple-A console production on all but PES

Added: 18.09.2015 13:17 | 97 views | 0 comments

Eurogamer: Konami has ceased all triple-A console game production on everything but Pro Evolution Soccer and there are currently no plans for a big new Metal Gear game, while worldwide technology directr Julien Merceron has left the company. That's according to a pair of reports on French site Gameblog. Eurogamer understands both reports to be true. Gameblog wrote yesterday that Merceron was apparently unhappy with Konami's transition away from the console market towards mobile games. Beyond Metal Gear Online - the separate online component to Metal Gear Solid 5 that is currently being finished - and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, Konami has a blank triple-A slate. It does however have the licence to the football tournament Euro 2016, so we'd expect it to make use of that.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Review | GameCloud

Added: 18.09.2015 12:19 | 78 views | 0 comments

Brendan Holben at GameCloud Australia writes: "In a strange way, The Phantom Pain turns out to be quite an apt description for this game. Were profoundly aware theres something missing here, and its possible we wont be truly satisfied. There are a few glaring issues in The Phantom Pain that could have sunk it, but in the end the incredible sandbox gameplay is just too good to dismiss. The series has always been about bombastic plots and super-refined gameplay, so the sting here is that Kojimas swan song had to be compromised for the worse. Dont get me wrong: The Phantom Pain is a brilliant game Im just grieving what could have been."

GI: "Metal Gear Online has been something of a mystery for some time, so the opportunity to play a few rounds of the competitive experience at TGS earlier today was both exciting and revealing. The free add-on to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to release on consoles on October 6th, with a PC release next year, and its unusual and intriguing gameplay loop offers something many competitive online shooters lack meaningful gameplay choice."
